Who can apply?

Candidates must have a PhD degree and must have obtained their (first) PhD a maximum of 8 years before the deadline of each call according to the MSCA scheme. Candidates must also comply with the MSCA mobility rule, must have to identify a main supervisor and are expected to define their Individual Research Proposal (IRP).

In support of gender dimension and other diversity aspects, UPCT is committed to ensuring full transparency in the recruitment, evaluation and selection process, in which all candidates are evaluated equally on the basis of their achievements and are not discriminated against on the basis of race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, age or socio-economic background. There is also a Code of Ethics which sets out the main moral aspirations to be respected and complied with by UPCT members; good practices to be carried out for the equal treatment of people regardless of their condition or circumstance; and a a service for the support of candidates with some kind of disability (whether intellectual, physical, sensory, mental or other illnesses) during the application process and throughout the IRP.

Eligibility criteria:

Requirements to be fulfilled by candidates for scholarships
Criterion Rule
Diploma Diploma certificate in English (accompanied by a non-certified English translation if the initial document is not in English) OR a statement on letterhead of their academic institution confirming that the thesis has been submitted and has been defended by the deadline for each call.
Research experience Postdocs researchers must have a maximum of 8 years of experience in research from the date of award of their (first) doctoral degree. The limit can be extended (in days) for the following reasons:
  • Maternity and paternity leave (exact duration per child born after the PhD award date).
  • Compulsory national service.
  • Time spent not working in research.
  • Long-term sick leave (periods greater than 30 days).
MSCA mobility rule Candidates must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies etc.) in Spain for more than 12 months in the 36 months immediately before the deadline for each call. The following periods are not taken into account:
  • Compulsory national service.
  • Time spent as part of a procedure for obtaining refugee status under the Geneva Convention.
  • Long-term sick leave.
  • Short stays (such as holidays).
Applicants have to indicate the country location of their residence and main activity in the Structured CV.
Research topic Applicants can freely choose a research topic. However, the project has to fit with the present or future research lines of the research group of the chosen main supervisor to ensure the viability of the project.
Status Candidates must not have a permanent position at the start of the appointment at their prospective host university. They have to be able to work exclusively on the research training project in AgrifoodTECH.

Declaration of Compliance: Candidates are required to submit a signed Declaration of Compliance confirming that all information provided regarding their MSCA-PF eligibility is accurate and truthful. This document ensures that all eligibility criteria have been verified and acknowledged by the candidate. The Declaration of Compliance is included in the Application Pack (Documentation will be available on March 1st) and must be completed and submitted as part of the application.
